New myBus Website
flo hansford, Friday, May 21, 2010
As you have no doubt noticed, www.mybus.je has had a revamp.
Among the new features on the site is an online version of TextMybus which allows you to enter your bus stop code and obtain the real time information about the next buses to reach your stop.
The new site is designed to be as easy to navigate as possible with three distinct sections – Mybus, myExplorer and mySchoolbus. Each section will include the relevant timetables, maps and other key information.
You can also find answers to an extensive range of frequently asked questions and information about our full range of unlimited travel passes.
We are keen to develop the site further with your feedback so please use the Contact Us section of the site to give us your comments.
myExplorer on TV
Scott Haynes, Tuesday, May 18, 2010
Visitors to Liberation Station may have noticed the addition of four flat screen televisions which have recently been installed.
The screens have been fitted to show a new film promoting the myExplorer services. (Click to watch this film here.)
The 12 minute film focuses on each of the four myExplorer routes (red, blue, green and yellow) and the attractions and places of interest served by each route.
It also features the walks from the Mybus Ride and Walk collection and some information about our unlimited travel passes.
As well as showing the film, the screens have a live link to Channel Television giving news and weather updates throughout the day.
There are also advertising breaks between the film. Anybody interested in advertising on the screens should contact Emily Moore, Marketing Manager, Connex Transport Jersey Ltd for further details.
Doubledecker Trial
Scott Haynes, Tuesday, May 18, 2010
If you were travelling on Jersey’s roads last month, you might have noticed a somewhat larger then usual vehicle gracing the roads between St Helier and St Aubin.
Between Monday 26 April and Saturday 8 May inclusive, Mybus operated a double decker bus on the route 15 as part of trial run in conjunction with Transport and Technical Services to investigate whether double deckers could become part of the Island’s regular bus fleet.
The trial was inspired by the growing number of passengers travelling on the route 15 (St Helier to the Airport via St Aubin) which accounts for almost a quarter of all passengers carried on the network.
The double decker was considered as a possible way of improving both capacity and comfort on this route. The bus which undertook the trial had 67 seats (compared to a maximum of 41 on the largest of the single decker buses currently in the fleet) and was licenced to carry a further 14 standing passengers. It also had wheelchair access and luggage space.
Supplied by its UK manufacturer Alexander Dennis, the bus features the latest technology to achieve low levels of carbon emissions and high fuel efficiency.
During the trial, surveys were undertaken both on board the double decker and on other route 15 services to gauge passengers’ reactions to the vehicle.
Commenting on the trial, Transport and Technical Services Minister Connétable Mike Jackson said: ‘The trial was very exciting and we will be reviewing feedback from everyone involved, including passengers, to help us understand whether double deckers should be a part of jersey’s bus service in the future.’
Eric Le Roux, Managing Director of Connex Transport Jersey Ltd added: ‘Connex is committed to enhancing public transport for existing passengers as well as introducing innovative ideas to attract more people on to the buses. The trial was an exciting and high profile campaign to highlight the benefits of bus travel while assessing the long term feasibility of double deckers on Jersey roads.
‘I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who travelled on the double decker and everyone who took the time to complete the passenger survey.’
Further feedback from the trial will follow once the operational reports and passenger comments have been analysed.
Summer Timetable 2010
Scott Haynes, Sunday, May 09, 2010
The summer timetable, which comes into effect on Sunday 30 May, brings good news for commuters with the introduction of further services.
Among the new services are two further ‘express’ journeys on the route 15. These include a departure from The Mermaid at 08.16 Monday-Friday (in addition to the express service from The Mermaid at 08.06) and a return express service from Liberation Station at 17.15 Monday-Friday. These journeys will travel along Victoria Avenue between The Esplanade and Bel Royal and will serve all stops between Bel Royal and the Airport.
Residents of Le Marais will also benefit this summer from an additional weekday service leaving Le Marais at 07.25. This will double capacity on the route 18 at this time of day and alleviate overcrowding issues on the existing services.
Another route to receive an additional service is the route 23 to Durrell. During the summer, there will be a further departure from Liberation Station at 07.50 to help commuters. The return journey will leave from Durrell at 08.23.
There is also good news for people living in the west of the Island with new commuter services on the routes 7, 9 and 12 from Carrefour Selous, St Ouen’s Parish Hall and Portelet and St Brelade’s Bay respectively.
The summer sees minor amendments to routes coming into St Helier from the west. After 16.00 all inbound services on the routes 7, 8, 8a, 9, 12, 12a, 14, 15 and myExplorer red, blue and yellow routes will travel directly to Liberation Station and will not travel along Conway Street and Broad Street. Services before 16.00 will not be affected.
The route 4 has also been rerouted slightly with outward journeys travelling from Les Platons to Haute Croix. On the return journeys, the route 4 will travel from Les Platons junction along Route d’Ebenezer to Le Vesconte Monument. The route 4 services from Liberation Station at 11.00, 13.00, 14.30 and 16.30 will terminate at Bouley Bay Apartments as the myExplorer yellow route now serves Bouley Bay.
